Setting Up Property Search on Your Agent Website

Training Resource • AGENTVIEW Support

Property search gives prospective buyers a convenient way to explore available homes from your Agent Website.

AGENTVIEW supports several property-search options depending on your website plan and the services provided by your MLS or IDX provider.

Basic Agent Website users can connect an existing property-search service using either a third-party URL or an MLS/IDX iframe.

Agent Website Pro users can use AGENTVIEW's Integrated Property Search after completing the required MLS connection and approval process.

This guide explains both options.

Opening the Property Search Settings

To manage your property search:

  1. Log in to your AGENTVIEW account.
  2. Select My Agent Website from the navigation menu.
  3. Select the Agent Website Builder.
  4. Select the Property Search tab in the Agent Website Builder.

The options displayed in this section will depend on whether your account is using the Basic website or Agent Website Pro.

Property Search for Basic Websites

Basic Agent Website users can connect a property-search service they already receive from their MLS, brokerage, or IDX provider.

Inside the Property Search section, use the dropdown menu to choose how you want property search to work on your website.

The available Basic options are:

  • Third-Party URL
  • MLS / IDX Iframe

Option 1: Using a Third-Party Property Search URL

A third-party URL is the simplest way to connect an existing property-search page to your Agent Website.

Your MLS, brokerage, or IDX provider may provide you with a web address that visitors can use to search for properties.

When this option is selected, visitors who choose property search from your Agent Website will be directed to the property-search page associated with that URL.

To Set Up a Third-Party URL

  1. Open the Property Search tab.
  2. Select the third-party URL option from the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter the complete property-search URL provided by your MLS, brokerage, or IDX provider.
  4. Save your Property Search settings.
  5. Preview your website and test Search Properties to make sure the correct page opens.

Where Do I Get the URL?

The property-search URL is generally provided by your:

  • MLS provider
  • IDX provider
  • Brokerage
  • Website or property-search service

The exact location of this link varies by provider.

If you are unsure whether your provider offers a property-search URL, contact the provider and ask whether they offer a public property-search page that can be linked from your real estate website.

Option 2: Using an MLS / IDX Iframe

Some MLS and IDX providers allow their property-search system to be embedded directly inside another website using an iframe.

When supported, this allows visitors to use the provider's property search while remaining visually within your Agent Website.

To Set Up an Iframe

  1. Open the Property Search tab.
  2. Select the MLS / IDX iframe option from the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter the iframe information provided by your MLS or IDX provider.
  4. Save your Property Search settings.
  5. Select Preview My Website and test the property-search page.

Where Do I Get My Iframe?

The iframe is generally provided by your MLS or IDX provider.

You may need to look inside your provider's IDX or website settings, or contact their support department and ask whether they provide an embeddable property-search iframe.

Important

Not all MLS or IDX providers support iframe property search.

Whether this option is available depends entirely on the service provided by your MLS or IDX company.

AGENTVIEW can display a compatible iframe, but AGENTVIEW cannot create an iframe for a provider that does not offer one.

If your provider does not support iframe embedding, use the Third-Party URL option instead.

Third-Party URL vs. Iframe

Both options allow Basic users to provide property search, but the visitor experience is slightly different.

Third-Party URL

A third-party URL sends the visitor to the property-search page supplied by your provider.

This is usually the easiest option and works with most services that provide a public search page.

MLS / IDX Iframe

An iframe displays the provider's property-search experience within your Agent Website.

This can create a more connected website experience, but it is only available when your MLS or IDX provider supports iframe embedding.

The actual listings, registration tools, saved searches, and other features available through either option are controlled by the third-party provider.

Preview and Test Your Basic Property Search

After saving your settings, select Preview My Website.

From your website, select Search Properties.

Confirm that:

  • The property-search page loads correctly
  • The correct MLS or IDX search appears
  • Property searches are functioning
  • The page displays properly on your website
  • The search also works on a mobile device

Testing the property search is especially important when using an iframe because some providers may restrict how their pages can be embedded.

Agent Website Pro Integrated Property Search

Agent Website Pro provides an additional option called Integrated Property Search.

Instead of connecting a third-party property-search page, AGENTVIEW connects an approved MLS directly with your Agent Website.

Once activated, visitors can:

  • Search available MLS listings
  • View property details
  • Create a website account
  • Save properties
  • Save searches
  • Receive listing alerts
  • Request property information
  • Request showings

Because the property-search experience is integrated with AGENTVIEW, registered visitor activity can also become available within your CRM and Agent Website tools.

Connecting Your MLS with Agent Website Pro

Integrated Property Search requires an approved MLS connection.

To begin the process, select Begin MLS Connection in the property search tab.

You will be asked to provide information about your agent, brokerage, and MLS membership.

AGENTVIEW will then process the connection request and guide you through any additional requirements from your MLS.

The approval requirements and processing time can vary by MLS.

While Your MLS Connection Is Being Processed

You can continue building and updating the rest of your Agent Website while your MLS connection is being reviewed.

There is no need to wait before working on your:

  • Website design
  • Homepage
  • About Page
  • Testimonials
  • Featured Listings

Once the MLS connection is approved and activated, Integrated Property Search becomes available through your existing Agent Website.

Basic vs. Pro Property Search

The main difference is how the property-search system connects with AGENTVIEW.

With a Basic Agent Website, AGENTVIEW connects visitors to a property-search experience supplied by another provider using either a URL or iframe.

With Agent Website Pro, the property-search experience is integrated into your Agent Website and can work together with additional AGENTVIEW features such as website user accounts, saved properties, saved searches, property activity, information requests, and showing requests.

Both options allow you to provide property search. The best choice depends on the property-search service you currently use and the level of integration you want with your AGENTVIEW account.
